Technical & Advice Documentation Specialist

Home based Permanent Remote

Perspective Financial Group Ltd / Group Business Monitoring Unit

Job Description

Our Technical & Advice Documentation Specialist supports the Group's Consumer Duty obligations on two fronts, strengthening the technical suitability of advice and ensuring client-facing documentation is clear, accurate, and supports consumer understanding.

We are looking for a versatile, detail-oriented professional to join the Business Monitoring team in a broad-ranging role that spans both technical advice support and advice documentation and systems. Working alongside the Senior Technical Specialist and the Senior Advice Documentation & Systems Lead, the successful candidate will provide additional capacity across both areas, contributing to technical query support, file review guidance, and the creation and maintenance of key advice documentation within Intelligent Office.

This is an all-rounder role rather than a specialist one, ideally suited to someone with a solid grounding in financial planning who enjoys variety and collaboration across multiple teams — including Financial Planners, Paraplanners, Compliance, Risk, and Operations — and who wants to develop breadth as well as depth in their expertise.

Additional details

Requirements
You will be motivated, friendly and professional always and will need the following:

• A practical understanding of financial planning, advice, and the products and services available to clients for wealth, mortgage, and protection needs.
• A good understanding of regulatory requirements, including evidencing Know Your Customer (KYC) through fact finding and articulating advice through suitability reports.
• Experience of analysing technical advice situations and assessing the suitability of proposed advice or recommendations.
• Confidence working with IT systems used in the advice process, such as Intelligent Office and Document Designer, or the aptitude to develop this quickly — alongside proficiency in Excel to record and analyse data.
• A client-centric approach, ensuring both advice and documentation support great client outcomes.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical ability, with a high standard of written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload across multiple teams, working to tight deadlines when required.
• Proven ability to work as part of a team, engage stakeholders effectively, and provide constructive feedback in a positive manner.
• A keen interest in how technology and AI can shape and evolve Financial Services, particularly in the advice and documentation process.
• A professional, positive 'can-do' attitude and a desire for continuous improvement — with the opportunity to develop specialist expertise in either or both areas of the role over time.

Qualifications:
• Diploma in Financial Planning or equivalent – Essential
• Equity Release and Mortgage - Desirable
• Qualifications in specialist areas (e.g. AF7 Pension Transfers, AF8 Retirement Income Planning, Long Term Care, Trusts) – Desirable

Responsibilities
The key duties of the role are:

• Support the resolution of technical queries from across the Group (including Senior Management, Office Principals, Financial Planners, Paraplanners, and the Business Monitoring, Complaints, Adviser Competency, and Core Compliance teams), escalating the most complex cases where appropriate.
• Provide technical input to colleagues completing pension and technical client file reviews (including trusts and specialist tax matters) in accordance with Group procedures, supporting consistent standards and high-quality feedback to Financial Planners and Mortgage Advisers.
• Assist in producing technical guides, bulletins, and best practice guidance for company-wide distribution, supporting consistent interpretation and application of technical and documentation standards.
• Support the creation, development, and ongoing maintenance of Suitability Report templates and Fact Finds in Intelligent Office using Document Designer, working with Financial Planners and Paraplanners to ensure these are compliant and client centric.
• Work with the Business Monitoring Team to identify examples of best practice from file reviews and incorporate these into future guidance, templates, and documentation.
• Assist with the education and training of new and existing Financial Planners and Paraplanners, covering both technical matters and the production of high-quality suitability reports.
• Provide SME input into other advice documentation and the adoption of new advice tools, ensuring related updates are reflected in reports and fact finds.
• Flag systemic issues identified with any Financial Planner or Office to the Head of Business Monitoring and assist in providing appropriate training and guidance to address them.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of internal systems (including Intelligent Office), process reviews, and management information, strengthening oversight, efficiency, and decision-making capability.

Due to the nature of the business, the role may also include additional responsibilities considered reasonable.
