Several members of the Perspective team took part in the Great North Run, showing great determination and team spirit. We’re incredibly proud of everyone who took part and supported such a fantastic event.

The Great North Run was Solgar Pacer John’s first half marathon since recovering from life-saving heart surgery in 2023. With his paced runners around him, John made it over the finish line at 2 hours 15 minutes, which was a huge golden moment and incredible achievement for him!

I took part in the Great North Run along with 60,000 other runners. I’m proud to say that I completed the 13.1 miles for the sixth time, which was an incredible experience. The atmosphere was amazing and the support from the crowds all along the route kept me going. It makes me proud to be from the North East. The training has had its highs and lows, especially keeping up the running on holiday in Marrakesh!
For me, this was more than just a race. It was my way of challenging myself to get fit again and back into running, all whilst raising money for Tommy’s, the pregnancy and baby charity. On my journey so far, I have raised £365 for Tommy’s.
I ran with my husband and our friend, and we completed the race in 2 hours, 13 minutes, and 25 seconds! I enjoyed it so much that I have entered into the ballot for next year.

What an event the Great North Run is. 60,000 runners supported by thousands 1,000’s of spectators offering cheers, high fives, fantastic banners, sweets, oranges and & ice pops along the way! It was such an honour to be part of the biggest and best half marathon.
Unfortunately, Steph was unable to run due to injury, but Mike completed it in 2 hours, 9 minutes and 45 seconds.
It was lovely to see the team in the charity tent afterwards and to get a lovely massage.
Our friend Graham is responding well to treatment and remains so positive throughout this difficult time. He keeps us going.
Next up: Paris marathon!
Jason Neave (Central Team)
Fundraising on behalf of: The Christie Charity
Jason took on The Great North Run alongside his partner, Katey, who was treated at the Christie charity. After completing the run in 2023, they went back to do it again this year, as a celebration of life, resilience and of the incredible facility that changed (and saved!) Katey’s’ life.
